The article is devoted to the issues of semantic and lexical derivation, that is, in a broad sense — the process of formation of new words. These processes are carried out according to strict rules with the help of formal means available in the language, the so-called formants. The principle of derivation in a language is not independent, and dialectically it should be compared with the principle of actualization of ready-made linguistic units.
